Alberto Minacapelli combines his work as a doctor with two passions that have always been intertwined: travel and photography. His relationship with images began in his father’s darkroom, where as a child he watched photographs slowly surface on the paper. A curiosity for the world, nurtured through early family trips, has since taken him across dozens of countries on six continents.
Documentary photography, portraiture, travel: his work stems from a desire to tell the stories of cultures different from his own, and to make the world feel more familiar to those who look at it. An approach in which observation matters more than technique, and composition remains the decisive tool.
With Echoes of Identity, the project he entered in Travel, Exhibit Around‘s annual call, he explores the ethnic diversity of northern India through female portraiture, built on direct encounters with village communities, where women are the visible and vital heart of daily life.
