BIO
Alena Ivochkina worked in economics for many years before discovering photography in 2019 during her hiking trips in the mountains.
From that moment on, her journey developed quickly and with determination. In 2020, she completed a course in artistic and professional photography. In 2023, she turned to fine art photography and began exploring self-portraiture.
Based in Chelyabinsk, Russia, her work has received recognition in international competitions and has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
Her artistic practice filters reality through the lens of imagination: everyday objects and ordinary scenes are transformed into something unexpected and refined, never quite what they first appear to be. Surrealism, minimalism, colour, and digital manipulation are the visual tools she uses to create compelling and surprising narratives.

PROJECT:
With Colorful Mood, a project published in Mythography V by Exhibit Around, she explores the relationship between clothing, identity, and communication.
In each image, the face remains hidden. Instead, the clothes become the voice of the subject, expressing the mood she chooses to reveal to the world while keeping her innermost feelings private.
In this interview, Alena Ivochkina shares how Colorful Mood came to life and discusses her artistic approach to photography.
