Alessandra Spigai is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Trieste. Self-taught, she developed her practice across graphic art, design, writing and photography before concentrating on painting and sculpture. Her work investigates human identity, inner transformation and the relationship between visible forms and emotional experience.
She experiments with materials and processes ranging from old wood and resin to printing blocks and specially developed compounds. Archetypal figures, imagined landscapes and symbolic spaces form a personal visual language through which she explores desires, fears, contradictions and the search for meaning.
Spigai is a co-founder of Passage Arte Contemporanea and founder of the cultural association ArTS, through which she promotes exhibitions and initiatives dedicated to contemporary artistic dialogue.
Her sculptural series Le Muse interiori gives physical form to different aspects of inner life, including courage, contemplation, pride and vulnerability. At Trieste Photo Days 2026, these works enter into dialogue with photography in Scatti da Collezione – Un viaggio oltre il visibile at Passage Arte Contemporanea.
