BIO
With a degree in social anthropology from the University of London, where he studied at Goldsmiths’ College and SOAS, Antonio Denti has lived through some of the most crucial events of recent history with a camera on his shoulder, documenting for Reuters conflicts, migration crises, revolutions and pandemics.
It is from this breadth of experience and from a gaze trained to capture reality in its most extreme moments, that his photography emerges.
PROJECT
With Notes from the Edge, the project with which he took part in the Special Matt Black – Gazes on Existence, he explores the times we are living through: a time of transition and turmoil, in which certainties seem to crumble without new forms having yet taken shape.
A work that moves across different levels, from macro to micro, from history to economics, from climate to human connections, in search of the common thread running through the lives of migrants, priests, soldiers, children: the existential effort to find meaning at the edges. Images that he finds, as he puts it, through a “lateral vision”: looking to the side of where his main focus was, while simply living his life.
