Born and raised in Geneva, Suresh Naganathan moved to India, his family’s country of origin, in 2008. The sudden encounter with the sounds, colours and overwhelming human presence of Mumbai became the starting point of his photography: an attempt to make sense of the chaos, which over time transformed into a meditative process and a way of connecting with the world and with himself.
With A World Called Mumbai, a project that earned him an Honourable Mention in the 2025 call “India“, he explores the different worlds that coexist within the city, its extraordinary diversity, the complexity that lies beneath what at first appeared to be nothing but chaos. A love letter to Mumbai, and a small postcard for those who want to understand what it feels like to live there.
