Christopher Morris is a photojournalist and a founding member of VII Photo Agency. On contract with TIME magazine from 1990 to 2020, he documented close to 30 foreign conflicts and covered the presidencies of George W. Bush and Barack Obama as a member of the White House press pool. His work spans conflict, politics, power and culture, from the fall of the Berlin Wall to wars in Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Somalia and Iraq, and the Arab Spring in Libya.
His honours include the Robert Capa Gold Medal, the Olivier Rebbot Award, the International Center of Photography’s Infinity Award for Photojournalism and multiple World Press Photo awards. His books My America (2006) and Americans (2012), both published by Steidl, explore the United States through his distinctive visual language.
In 2009, an assignment for the Italian fashion magazine AMICA opened a new chapter in his practice, leading to a four-year collaboration and work photographing fashion, political leaders and celebrities for European clients. In 2022, he began a long-term project supported by a grant to document environmental changes in his home state of Florida. He is also organising four decades of photographs into what he calls a Living Archive.
