As part of the 12th edition of Trieste Photo Days, we are thrilled to announce a curious and compelling addition to this year’s festival: Urban Animals – We Are Not Alone, a bold and irreverent zine that captures the strange, uncanny and humorous side of animals in urban environments.
Published by Exhibit Around as a spin-off of the official Urban Animals open call, the zine offers a parallel, offbeat take on the main exhibition and photographic volume. If the broader project explores the many ways animals live, hide, or manifest in our cities, the zine dives into a more surreal and mischievous territory.
Inside, you will find a visual bestiary of unexpected creatures: real, invented, and somewhere in between. With its bold aesthetic and dark sense of humor, Urban Animals – We Are Not Alone adds a fresh, independent voice to the festival’s programme.
The zine will be launched in conjunction with the opening of the main Urban Animals exhibition at Sala Veruda, scheduled for October 24, 2025. Join us to discover the full Urban Animals universe, from exhibitions and talks to this strange little zine, where the animal gaze reflects something all too human.
