The historical heritage of the nautical circles of the Venezia-Giulia region

Lega Navale - Sala conferenze | Molo F.lli Bandiera, 9 - Trieste, Italy Saturday, 10 November 2018 9:30 am to 1:00 pm

The Pietas Julia Foundation promotes the convention titled “Historical heritage of the nautical circles of the Venezia-Giulia region. Current situation and future endeavours”.
The initiative is inspired by the consideration that nautical sports are being carried out on our territory since the mid-1800s and are now a unique part of popular and historical tradition.
Of the more than thirty nautical sailing and rowing associations located on the coast, from Grado to Muggia, eight surpassed 100 years of age and others will soon reach this prestigious goal. All of these associations, including other older or newer ones, treasure documents, photographs, trophies and memories which make up a historical heritage, which is often overlooked. The convention aims to take stock of this aspect of the cultural reality that the nautical associations represent, sensitizing society itself and civil and sport-related authorities.
The convention is sponsored and promoted by the Municipality of Trieste, the Friuli Venezia-Giulia region, the UNASCI (Italian National Union of Centenary Sport Associations) and the regional archive offices.
