Daniel Ramos - Before Being a Good Photographer

In this masterclass Daniel Ramos approaches photography beyond technique, focusing on human relationships, trust, curiosity and the experiences that make an image capable of saying something.
Drawing on his street photography and reportage work, Daniel will describe how he makes contact with people and places he does not know, how he builds a rapport with them, and how he turns everyday encounters into photographs and long-term projects.
Starting from personal stories and from projects such as Carnival on the Outskirts and Barras Insurgentes, he will show how a photographer can move from observing a scene to forming a real bond with the people and places being photographed.
The masterclass grows out of a simple conviction that defines his way of understanding photography: “Before being a good photographer, you have to be a good person.”

Rather than dwelling on cameras or technical settings, the session invites participants to think about empathy, closeness, trust, storytelling and everything that happens before the shutter is released.

Stefano Mirabella - Photographing the Everyday
Chance, preparation and the making of an image in street photography

Street photography comes out of the meeting between what we can control and what inevitably escapes our intentions.
Drawing on his own experience and on photographs made over more than fifteen years of working in the street, Stefano Mirabella will take the audience inside his way of looking and of building an image: from the choice of a place to the search for relationships between elements, from viewpoint to light, up to the unpredictable moment when something happens and turns an ordinary situation into an interesting photograph.
Through images, sequences and references to the photographers who have shaped his path, the masterclass will be a reflection on photographing the everyday and on the possibility of preparing the eye to welcome chance, learning to recognise the possibilities that reality offers us all the time.

Mihaela Noroc - The Art of Connection

In this masterclass, Mihaela Noroc, photographer and author of The Atlas of Beauty, will talk about her approach to portrait photography and about the people and stories behind her images. Through a presentation of her work, she will share the experiences, encounters and connections that have marked her photographic path.
The second part of the masterclass moves from the presentation to the street, with a live photoshoot led by Mihaela. Participants will have the chance to observe her approach in the field: how she spots and approaches her subjects, how she builds a relationship with them, and how she turns a spontaneous encounter into a portrait.
An opportunity to discover photography as a human experience and to engage directly with Mihaela's working method, learning from her way of observing, approaching and connecting with the people she photographs.

GUESTS

Daniel Ramos

Daniel Ramos is a Mexican photographer who lives and works in Mexico City. His work focuses on everyday life, popular festivities and the communities that shape their identities within and around the city.
At the heart of his approach lies a simple conviction: “Before being a good photographer, you have to be a good person.” For Daniel, photography begins long before the shutter is pressed: it starts with respect, conversation and trust.
He sees the camera as a key that allows him to enter places, meet people, and experience worlds that might otherwise remain inaccessible. For him, the greatest reward is not only the final image, but the encounters and human connections that make it possible.
In Carnival on the Outskirts, he documents traditional celebrations that continue to survive in communities increasingly surrounded by urban expansion in Mexico, where carnival becomes a living expression of memory, identity, and belonging.
In 2025, the project won first place in the Projects & Portfolios category of the URBAN Photo Awards, selected by Magnum photographer Matt Black. His work has also received recognition from international photography festivals and competitions including the Brussels Street Photography Festival, Pisa Street Photography International Festival, The Independent Photographer, the International Photography Awards, Cuartoscuro, and others.

For Daniel, photography is ultimately a shared human experience built on closeness, respect, and trust.

Stefano Mirabella

Stefano Mirabella is an Italian photographer working in the fields of documentary and street photography. He began his photographic journey in 2003, studying at leading photography schools in Rome, and immediately embarked on a personal path focused on social documentary work. His projects have taken him to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, India, Syria, and the occupied Palestinian territories—places that have become central themes in several of his exhibitions and publications.
Over the years, his work has been exhibited widely, in both solo and group shows across Italy and abroad.
Since 2012, street photography has been his primary creative and professional focus—a visual language to which he feels deeply connected, and one that enables him to explore and interpret reality through a personal way of seeing. He was a member of the Italian street photography collective Spontanea, and in 2014 was among the winners of the Leica Talent Award. He currently teaches at Officine Fotografiche, one of Rome's most respected photography centers, and is a faculty instructor at the Leica Akademie, an international hub for photographic education.
In 2021, he curated the exhibition Caio Mario Garrubba – FREELANCE SULLA STRADA for Istituto Luce, contributing to the renewed recognition of one of the key figures in twentieth-century Italian photography.

His photographic vision—constantly balancing the documentation of reality with a desire to transcend it—is driven by a sincere and passionate approach, which he shares both in the classroom and through his daily practice.

Mihaela Noroc

Mihaela Noroc is a Romanian photographer who for over a decade has travelled the world with a backpack and a camera to portray the beauty and diversity of women. Having photographed women in 100 countries, she is convinced that this is only the beginning.
It all started in 2013, with a journey to Ethiopia that changed her perspective: from there came the decision to leave her job and devote herself entirely to photography and travel, giving life to The Atlas of Beauty. For Mihaela, true beauty knows no borders: it can be found everywhere, in a village or in a skyscraper, in a gesture or in a look, and it lies above all in the differences that define us.
Her work has given rise to the books The Atlas of Beauty: Women of the World in 500 Portraits and The Power of Women: An Atlas of Beauty Book, and has been featured by the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, CNN, BBC and Oprah's SuperSoul Sunday.

Mihaela’s dream is to turn The Atlas of Beauty into a lifelong project, one that celebrates the most beautiful side of humanity and contributes, however small her part may be, to making the world a better place.
