In Power Structures Morris brings together images from three fields — conflict, politics, and fashion — which reveal themselves as different manifestations of the same reality: the way power is built, represented, and exercised in contemporary society. Three pillars, one question: who holds authority over human life, and what does it look like up close? A project that traces forty years of photojournalism at the highest international level, from the wars in Chechnya and Iraq to private audiences at the Vatican, from the White House to the haute couture runway. None of these images announce themselves, none ask to be looked at. They wait. And it is that patience that makes them unforgettable. The signature of a photographer who learned, across forty years and thirty conflicts, that restraint is itself a form of power.
During Trieste Photo Days 2026, Christopher Morris will also give a public talk open to all Festival visitors at the Sala Luttazzi on Sunday 25 October, and a two-day workshop (22–23 October), a valuable opportunity for learning and exchange that will include a portfolio review for participants.
Christopher Morris has received major honours including the Robert Capa Gold Medal and the Oliver Rebbot Award, and is a member of VII Photo Agency.
From 1990 to 2020 he worked for TIME Magazine, covering international conflicts and following the presidencies of George W. Bush and Barack Obama as part of the White House press pool.
Music Installation: the exhibition in Sala Nathan will be enhanced by an original composition by Matteo Zambon, the result of the Photography in Symphony music competition, created in collaboration with the Tartini Conservatory specifically for the Trieste Photo Days exhibitions.
