Trieste Photo Days, 22-23 October
Join the two-day workshop with Christopher Morris, one of the most influential contemporary documentary photographers and a founding member of VII Photo Agency. Presented exclusively as part of Trieste Photo Days, this is an opportunity to work closely with a leading photographer, receive direct feedback on your work, and deepen your photographic vision.
With over forty years of experience documenting contemporary history, Morris will guide participants through a journey of reflection and growth, sharing his approach to photography, creative process, and the experience gained while working on some of the world's most significant international events.

The workshop will be held in English.
Opening Session
The workshop will begin on the first day with a two-hour introductory presentation in which Christopher Morris will share his personal and professional journey, the experience he has gained over the years, and the ideas that have shaped his approach to photography and visual storytelling.
Portfolio Reviews
Throughout the two-day workshop, Christopher Morris will review the work of each participant.
The portfolio reviews will take place as group sessions, with all participants present during each photographer's review, encouraging open discussion, the exchange of ideas, and mutual learning.
What to Bring
Each participant is required to prepare a representative selection of photographs that best reflects their personal vision, photographic style, and the direction they wish to pursue in their practice.
The images should be organized in a folder labeled with the participant's full name, containing either individual photographs or one or more themed photographic stories:
- Please bring the folder on an SSD, external hard drive, or laptop
- The total selection should not exceed 60 images.
Other additional material, such prints and book dummies, is also welcome.

Instructor: Christopher Morris
Christopher Morris is one of the most celebrated photojournalists of the last four decades. A founding member of VII Photo Agency, he was on contract with TIME Magazine from 1990 to 2020, documenting close to 30 foreign conflicts and covering the U.S. Presidencies of George W. Bush and Barack Obama as a member of the White House press pool.
His work spans conflict, politics, power, and culture – from the fall of the Berlin Wall and the wars in Yugoslavia, Colombia, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Somalia, Yemen and Panama, the first Gulf War, to the US invasion of Iraq, and the Arab Spring in Libya.
Morris is the recipient of numerous major awards including the Robert Capa Gold Medal, the Olivier Rebbot Award from the Overseas Press Club, several Infinity Awards from the International Center of Photography, the Visa d'Or in France, and a multitude of World Press Photo awards.
He has published two books with Steidl: "My America" (2006) and "Americans" (2011). Outside of TIME Magazine, he has worked for an extensive list of global publications worldwide.
In 2009, after TIME Magazine ended its White House coverage, Morris was approached by the Italian fashion magazine AMICA for an assignment in New York, after the Editor-in-Chief was shown a copy of his "My America" monograph. This led to a four-year collaboration, bringing his unique journalistic approach to Milan and Paris, where he was based until 2017, documenting fashion, government leaders, and celebrities.
In 2022, he began a long-term grant project on environmental changes in his home state of Florida. In recent years, he has also been organizing his 40-year archive into what he calls a "Living Archive."
