Mark Power, President of the Projects & Portfolio Section, URBAN Photo Awards 2026
In keeping with a long-standing tradition of bringing some of the most prominent figures in contemporary photography on board, the URBAN Photo Awards 2026, 17th edition, is delighted to announce that British photographer Mark Power, member of Magnum Photos, will be in Trieste for Trieste Photo Days 2026, from 23 to 25 October, in his role as President of the Projects & Portfolio Section.
Throughout his career, Mark Power has built an artistic body of work of recognised international standing. The author of sixteen publications, his work has been exhibited in major museum institutions, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Milwaukee Art Museum, as well as in numerous private exhibition spaces. Having joined Magnum Photos in 2002, his photography ranges across documentary, autobiography and urban landscape, always marked by a distinctive reflective quality.
The Projects & Portfolio section is dedicated to work structured in series, where images are united by thematic, stylistic or conceptual coherence, giving photographers the chance to present in-depth visual narratives.
As President of the Projects & Portfolio Section, Mark Power will announce the winner and shortlisted photographers during the final ceremony of the contest, on Saturday 24 October 2026, at the 13th edition of Trieste Photo Days. He will also personally select up to five projects, portfolios or photographic series to be featured in a prestigious exhibition curated by him. The exhibition will be presented at Trieste Photo Days 2026, and the selected works will be exhibited in a group show together with Mark Power at Magazzino 26, Porto Vecchio, Trieste, from 23 October to 8 November 2026.
URBAN is proud to have always hosted legendary photographers such as Matt Black, Paolo Verzone, Harry Gruyaert, Susan Meiselas, Jérôme Sessini, Alec Soth, Nino Migliori, Bruce Gilden, Alex Webb and Martin Parr, to name but a few.
Mark Power will be present at Trieste Photo Days 2026 (23 to 25 October), where he will evaluate and announce in person the winning project of the 2026 Online Projects Selection, and will give a public talk open to all Festival visitors.
With Mark Power on board, the URBAN Photo Awards and Trieste Photo Days further confirm their international outlook, fostering dialogue and exchange between established authors and new voices in contemporary photography.
