We are happy to announce a shortlist of 19 finalists who have passed the first selection phase of the Open Call “Project Selection by Jérôme Sessini”. These wonderful projects have been chosen by the Magnum photographer among the total of 175 submissions.
They will be evaluated in great detail in the next few days. The choice of the winner won’t be easy: all the shortlisted projects have impressed Sessini with their originality, stylistic diversity and photographic genres. By deciding not to restrict a photo theme to this year’s Project Selection, we have received an incredible variety of different portfolios and projects – showing how far the creativity of a photographic eye can travel.
We share with you the first anticipating results. The shortlist is published in alphabetical order.

Save the date: on Sunday 29 October 2023 at 17:00 in Sala Xenia (Riva Tre Novembre / Angolo Via Mazzini – Trieste) where Jérôme will announce and comment live the winning project. If you can’t come to the festival, don’t worry! Stay tuned on our social media channels where we will publish the results.
Jérôme Sessini will also send to 3 of the best projects received a written professional consultation in order to offer to the photographer a moment of confrontation, as well as suggestions and advice useful for professional growth.

- A two night stay for two persons to attend live the exhibition
- Live talk with the author
- Publication of an extract of the project in the Festival Catalog
Mariagrazia Beruffi, winner of the Project Selection curated by Tony Gentile for TPD 2023, will present her project “Chinese Whispers” (view event) on Sunday 29 October in Sala Xenia at 3.00 pm. Her photographic exhibition will be open from 27 to 29 October.
