A journey through London’s City through the lens of Andy Hall
The photographs of Tales of the City by Andy Hall, winner of the Open Call “Project Selection 2024 curated by Harry Gruyaert”, were exhibited in Trieste as part of the Trieste Photo Days 2025, at the Sala d’Arte Comunale, from October 24 to November 9, 2025.
A freelance editorial photographer based in London, Hall has been working for over 35 years for international publications such as The Guardian and The Observer, as well as NGOs like the UNHCR. His work is internationally recognised: he was one of the winners of the Acuity Press – Best of Street Photography 2016, recently a finalist at the Brussels Street Photography Festival 2019, and also a finalist at the LensCulture Street Awards 2021.
Hall personally guided the public on a tour of the exhibition, sharing stories and insights into his creative process. The images capture the heart of London’s financial district, a place suspended between historic architecture and glass skyscrapers, where shadows and reflections shape the urban space. As the photographer himself explains, the project explores the relationship between the city and its inhabitants, seeking genuine moments and compositions that reveal order in chaos.
