Yinna Higuera

Yinna Higuera (Bogotá, 1980) is a Colombian-Ecuadorian visual artist and photographer whose work connects memory, the body, migration and territory. Moving between documentary photography and experimental processes, she explores identity, belonging, and the relationship between personal experience and collective history.

With training in psychology and pedagogy and a master’s degree in Photography and Society in Latin America from the Universidad de las Artes in Ecuador, she brings a research-based perspective to her practice. She is a co-founder of Colectivo SolipsisArt Ecuador, supporting artistic creation and exhibitions through community and gender perspectives.

Her work has appeared in more than forty national and international exhibitions across Latin America, the United States and Europe, including at Somerset House in London. Projects such as Dualidades Migrantes, Chushak and Huellas explore fragility, resilience and the traces that lives leave on bodies and places.

In Huellas, portraits of rural Ecuadorian women are printed on natural leaves using chlorophyll processes. The project received an honourable mention in the 2026 Ritratti femminili a confronto open call and is presented at Trieste Photo Days.
