Inauguration of the collective exhibition and award ceremony of the URBAN 2017 Photo Awards contest. The Jury president, Maurizio Galimberti, will award the absolute winner. Will be followed by a refreshment offered by Piolo & Max, Antica Bottega del Gusto, Casa Trauner e Locanda alle Beccherie.
Now at its eight edition, URBAN sees every year thousand of partecipating pictures and hundreds of participants from all over the world. It is an always growing international contest, one of the very few that goes “over the boundaries” of Internet offering to photographers real visibility through dozens of international photo exhibitions. Only in 2016 URBAN realized 32 exhibitions displaying about 700 pictures. Behind it all, there is always the pursue of enhancement of photographic talent and quality.
URBAN 2017 saw 4.120 photos and 253 portfolios for 1.015 participants from all over the world. Besides Italy: Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, England, India, Mexico, Poland, United States, South Africa and many others.
The Jury was composed of Maurizio Galimberti (Jury President, internationally renowed photographer and artist, famous for his mosaics made with Polaroid), Monika Bulaj (photographer, reporter and documentary filmmaker), Denis Curti (artistic director of Casa dei Tre Oci of Venice), Elena Uljančić-Vekić (director of the Musum of Porec, Croatia), Aida Muluneh (Ethiopian photographer and founder of Addis Foto Fest, the largest African photographic festival), Angelo Cucchetto (founder of Photographers.it and artistic director of Trieste Photo Days), Polish street photographer Ania Klosek, Indian naturalist photographer Rathika Ramsamy, Bob Patterson (editor of Street Photographer Magazine), Grzegorz Kosmala (editor of doc! photo magazine), Karol Liver (Irish photographer and director of Prism Magazine), Rohit Vohra (one of the most important Asian photographers, co-founder of APF magazine), Mozart Mesquita (partner of FHOX, who organizes Fotografar SHOW, the largest photographic event in Brazil), Maja Briski (art critic, indipendent curator and graphic designer) and Christy Karpinski (founder of F-Stop Magazine).
