Full Professor of Greek Language and Literature at the Department of Philology, Literature and Linguistics of the University of Pisa, he is also President of the Master’s Degree Course in Philology and History of Antiquity. He is also a member of the Tuscan Regional Doctorate in Ancient Sciences. He was Researcher at the Scuola Normale Superiore, Professeur invité at the École Normale Superieure de Paris and Adjunct Professor of Greek Language at the Scuola Normale Superiore.
He directs the scientific journal “LEXIS. Poetics, rhetoric and communication in the classical tradition“, published by Edizioni Ca ‘Foscari of Venice; he is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the magazine “PHILOLOGUS. Zeitschrift für antike Literatur und ihre Rezeption” (Journal for ancient literature and its reception) and of the Scientific Committee of “Classical and Oriental Studies”. He is a member of the International Scientific Council Letters and Social Sciences of the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. He has coordinated numerous research groups on issues related to ancient theater and the mythical events that are treated there.
