On the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri, the dotART cultural association has created the multidisciplinary project Dante 2021 as a tribute to the Supreme Poet.
Promoted in collaboration with the Municipality of San Daniele del Friuli and the Guarneriana Library, Dante 2021 involved Italian and foreign photographers in a choral work of creative "re-mediation" of Dante's Divine Comedy in contemporary culture through photography. In fact, since its publication, the Comedy has been honored, cited, reworked by artists and illustrators, from Botticelli to Dalí, from Doré to Rauschenberg, who from time to time have honored the work with their own stylistic code, reaching outcomes of visionary power sometimes close to those of the poem.
The result is the volume you hold in your hands, full of magnificent photos freely inspired by the Comedy, by Dante's themes and by the figure of Dante himself. This book also includes a collective exhibition at the Territory Museum of San Daniele del Friuli (UD), as part of the Photo Days Tour 2021, a setting of events taking place during the Trieste Photo Days festival.
The volume was edited and supervised by Professor Angelo Floramo, scientific consultant of the Guarneriana Library of San Daniele del Friuli (which houses a rare edition of Dante's Inferno from the fourteenth century).
