“Palmanova Creativa” exhibition (photos from WOW, Mythography, URBAN2022 and PixAround FVG)

The Photo Days Tour 2022, the frame of events taking place outside Trieste during the Trieste Photo Days festival, stops off in Palmanova’s gunpowder magazine Polveriera Napoleonica with an international collective exhibition entirely dedicated to creativity in Photography: Palmanova Creativa.

The exhibition, originated from the partnership between Trieste Photo Days and the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Palmanova, aims to celebrate Palmanova’s 5 years as a UNESCO City.

Exhibited you will find a broad selection of creative, experimental, abstract and conceptual photographs, taken from four projects conceived by dotART and Exhibit Around APS, the associations promoting the festival.

Photographs by authors from all over the world, competing in the international contest URBAN Photo Awards 2022, will dialogue with images proceeding from WOW - Worlds of Women, a collective project dedicated to the female universe and the thousands of galaxies inhabiting it.

Moreover, on display you will also find the works of the project Mythography, freely inspired by two gods of the Latin pantheon: Apollo (representing the themes of color and light) and Pluto (symbolizing night photography, black & white, shadows and silhouettes).

In the end, you will find a section of local photographers, dedicated to the City of Palmanova, with photographs taken from PixAround FVG 2022, and in particular from the 24ORE di Fotografia held in the city last summer.

The inauguration of the exhibition takes place at the gunpowder magazine Polveriera Napoleonica, located in Contrada Garzoni in Pamanova, on Saturday 8^th October 2022 at 12 p.m. Open to visitors until Sunday 13^th November 2022.

URBAN Photo Awards is the photographic contest which turns into being the core of Trieste Photo Days. Started in 2010, this contest every year sees thousands of photographs in competition and hundreds of participants from all over the world. It is an international well-known event in constant development, one of few able to ‘go beyond the boundaries’ of the web, thus providing photographers with real visibility through dozens of photographic exhibitions. URBAN exhibitions reach their climax during Trieste Photo Days which hosts the Awards ceremony, along with an exhibition dedicated to the winners and different exhibitions for the best classified photographs.

WOW - Worlds of Women is a collective homage to the female universe which welcomes 189 photographers from all over the world. Made up of a volume and an exhibition which will be presented at the inaugurating weekend of Trieste Photo Days, WOW has Susan Meiselas as special guest, one of the most influential documentary photographers in the world.

Mythography - Vol. 02 is the second volume of an editorial collection freely inspired by gods of the Greek / Latin pantheon, a collective collage by 119 photographers from all over the world. The volume is edited and will be introduced by Enrico Medda, Professor of Greek Literature at the University of Pisa. Special guest: Nino Migliori, dean of the Italian photography.

PixAround FVG 2022 is a photographic volume casting an original glance at the everyday life in the North-Eastern Italian Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The volume includes a special focus on the cities of Gorizia, Cormons, Palmanova, Muggia and Spilimbergo, which hosted this summer the ‘24ORE di Fotografia’: collective photographic issues linked to a contest. Participating in the project, 75 authors.
