Presentation of George®, Giorgio Galimberti's first photographic book, edited by Angelo Cucchetto and produced by dotART exclusively for Trieste Photo Days. In collaboration with Lumix Italia.
From the introduction by Angelo Cucchetto:
“It is with great emotion that I present this book by Giorgio Galimberti, hard cover with title in relief in black on black, a basic element from George’s Photography.
The first part includes more “architectural” works, then slowly the human presence becomes the real protagonist. The book is completed and outlined by some poems by Gianluca Nadalini, Bolognese writer and poet, historical friend of George and his soul close to him.
Giorgio’s work offers a dreamlike and empathic look on forms and presences, also intended as space-time loci. Empty metaphysical urban glimpses, essences of traces of life that pass and flow, against the backdrop of newly traced architectures.
Physical lines that are linked to the evoked lines that unite the destinies of human beings always present in his images, and then focus on the human presence, approach and place it as a protagonist within the loci.
George’s gaze is an enchanted and therefore enchanting gaze, the gaze of a tormented teenager who seeks contact with his fellow men and who (perhaps) disenchanted and in a certain sense disillusioned manages to perceive the ephemeral of others’ lives, flashes of life on a newly traced urban canvas, almost unreal in its synthetic vision.
In his work we find homages and passions for great masters, from Mario Giacomelli to Fan Ho and André Kertész.
A book that offers powerful images, shades of space and time dilated in the moment that captures human presences, crystallized in the brief passage from the author’s memory.
A great work, strongly and long desired also by me, which shows us the talent of this Author. “
