71% – The State of Water | SHORT VIDEO
The associations dotART and Exhibit Around APS have conceived a great photographic tribute to be presented at the Trieste Photo Days festival, following the successful projects exhibited during the past editions: the homages to Martin Parr (Short Street Stories, 2019), Alex Webb (Chromantic, 2020), to street photography (Tales of the Unwritten, 2021) and to women (WOW – Worlds of Women, 2022).
2023 is the year of 71% – The State of Water, a photographic project dedicated to water, the element that covers 71% of the earth’s surface (source).
71% – The State of Water consists of a photographic volume, an exhibition and a video with the authors. A photographic celebration of water, a common element of all forms of life on earth, also taking into consideration the social and environmental issues connected to it such as drought, climate change, floods and all those variations of water that have a impact on life in general.
219 photographers from all over the world and over 850 photographers will be part of the volume, selected from the over 895 who participated in the open call, submitting more than 4,500 photos and more than 260 portfolios.
Each author has dealt with the theme through the photographic genre that most suits them: portrait, street photography, social reportage, documentary photography, fashion photography and fine-art.
Special guest of the project is Kadir van Lohuizen, Dutch photographer and member of NOOR Images, known for his large-scale, long-term photographic projects and for his particular commitment to environmental and social issues.
Inspired by the 71% – The State of Water photographic book, the great collective exhibition will take place within the 2023 edition of Trieste Photo Days at the ‘U. Veruda’ hall, in the heart of the city.
