Italian photographer Giulio Casti is the author of the winning photo of the Trieste Street Walk 2021, selected by Michael Goldrei, who led the photographic walk on 1 November during Trieste Photo Days.
“Giulio’s photo”, explains Goldrei, “really stands out thanks to its striking colours and unusual perspective, which puts us almost inside the candyfloss machine. The use of oval shapes throughout give an interesting contrast to the mostly horizontal/vertical world we normally observe (and within the rectangular frames that photos give us). And the look of anticipation on the girl’s face is the icing on the cake!”
The winning photo will be exhibited at Trieste Photo Days 2022 and published in one of the Exhibit Around books and in the Festival Catalog. Giulio Casti will also be hosted for 2 nights in Trieste during the festival days.
Michael Goldrei and dotART have identified three honorable mentions among the nearly 250 photos uploaded by photographers: these will also be published in one of the Exhibit Around volumes in 2022.
