Trieste Photo Days 2021 @ UTOPIA MELARA, Stazione Rogers

A collective exhibition born from the photographic design laboratory held during the Trieste Photo Days 2020 by Graziano Perotti, photojournalist with over 200 travel, culture and social reports, published in the most important Italian magazines.

The laboratory aimed to produce images that tell the story of architecture and life in the ATER residential complex commonly known as the “quadrilateral of Melara”, designed by a large group of professionals from Trieste, coordinated by Carlo Celli. The futuristic district was built between 1969 and 1982. The structure covers an area of 89 thousand square meters. It houses 468 apartments for around 2,500 residents. The designers’ idea was to create a sort of model neighborhood that was self-sufficient and equipped with all basic needs with shops, schools and various services. The keys to the first apartments were delivered between 1979 and 1981. In terms of structure and history, it can certainly be classified as yet another building utopia.

On show photos by Graziano Perotti | Alessandra Antonini | Alessandro Sarti | Cesare Augello | Corrado Calvi | Fabio Angioletti | Grazia Palazzo | Lia Taddei | Maria Bonetto | Marina Labagnara | Marisa Di Brindisi | Michela Bin | Pier Angelo Bussi | Riccardo Barone | Samantha Degrassi | Silvia Questore | Simonetta Fantini | Tiziana Bassanese
